Technical details

University career platform

Touch The Peak extends the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s career and job-fair programme into a centralized digital platform. It connects verified undergraduates, hiring partners, career events, internships, and vacancies through one consistent experience.

Role-based recruitment workflows

Student profile management and direct applications sit alongside company-facing recruitment tools and administrative moderation. Keeping these roles within one platform reduces the gaps between opportunity discovery, candidate review, hiring coordination, and university oversight.

Full-stack Next.js architecture

Next.js 16 with the App Router, React 19, and TypeScript provides a shared full-stack foundation for public pages, authenticated dashboards, and server-backed workflows. Bun supports the project’s development and package workflow.

Data and identity

Drizzle ORM connects the application’s type-safe data layer to Neon PostgreSQL, while Better Auth supports authenticated access for the platform’s student, company, and administrative experiences.

Storage and deployment

Tigris S3 provides object storage for the platform’s media needs, and Vercel hosts the application. Tailwind CSS supports the responsive interface across public, student, company, and administrative views.

Final thoughts

Working as one of the full-stack developers on Touch The Peak means contributing to a product where technical decisions directly affect how students find opportunities and how companies connect with university talent. The project has strengthened my ability to build across authenticated interfaces, data-backed workflows, and shared team architecture while keeping the experience clear for several distinct user roles.

What I learned

  1. 01

How to model connected workflows for students, hiring partners, and university administrators without fragmenting the experience.

  2. 02

How to combine Next.js App Router, typed data access, authentication, object storage, and deployment within one full-stack product.

  3. 03

How to collaborate on a production university platform where content accuracy, access control, and dependable recruitment workflows all matter.
