Project overview

01

The challenge

The platform needed to manage the complete ticket lifecycle without separating sales operations from venue execution. It had to calculate tiered pricing accurately, secure administrative tools, generate large ticket batches, process payment events, and validate QR tickets quickly during live check-in while retaining a dependable manual fallback.

02

The outcome

The resulting system provides a connected booking and event-management workflow, from multi-tier public purchases and payment processing to downloadable QR ticket batches, administrative oversight, email communication, and real-time venue validation.

Deliverables

  1. 01Multi-tier public ticket booking flow
  2. 02Secure event administration dashboard
  3. 03Bulk QR ticket and PDF generation
  4. 04Camera-based and manual ticket validation
  5. 05Payment, webhook, and email notification APIs

Technical details

Ticketing platform

The Vizualabs Ticketing System covers the full event journey, connecting customer-facing ticket sales with event configuration, ticket generation, payment processing, communication, and live check-in. Its shared workflow reduces operational gaps between online booking and on-site validation.

Angular booking experience

The frontend uses Angular 19 with a standalone-component architecture, Angular Reactive Forms for structured form state and validation, and RxJS for reactive data and HTTP handling. The public booking flow calculates pricing in real time across General, VIP, VVIP, and VVIP Table tiers, including the required one percent convenience fee.

Secure administration and QR operations

Route guards protect the admin login and management areas, where staff can configure events, generate QR tickets in bulk, and export ticket batches as downloadable PDFs. Camera-based scanning uses ZXing, with manual ticket entry available when scanning is not practical, while SweetAlert2 provides clear operational feedback.

Spring Boot REST architecture

The Spring Boot and Maven backend follows a layered controller, service, repository, DTO, and entity structure. Its REST endpoints support event and ticket management, customer bookings, ticket generation, payment gateway transactions, webhook processing, and email notifications.

Reliability and deployment

Role-based authentication, centralized custom exception handling, and structured response codes keep administrative and customer workflows predictable. Docker packages the backend into a consistent deployment unit hosted through AWS EC2 and Hostinger, while file-saver and html2canvas support reliable client-side ticket and document exports.

Final thoughts

This project reinforced the importance of treating ticketing as one continuous operational system rather than separate booking and check-in features. Connecting pricing, payments, QR generation, administration, and venue validation created a more dependable experience for both customers and event teams.

What I learned

  1. 01

How to model multi-tier ticket pricing and convenience fees as clear, reactive booking rules.

  2. 02

How to combine secure admin routing, bulk QR generation, PDF export, and live scanning in one Angular application.

  3. 03

How to design a layered REST API around bookings, payments, webhooks, notifications, and event-day validation.
